Miami-Dade County is becoming a major hub for film and video productions, thanks to the High Impact Film Fund program, which was launched last December with incentives of up to $10 million annually.

Marco Giron, chief of Film and Entertainment at the county’s Office of Film and Entertainment, noted that this program has successfully attracted large-scale projects, significantly boosting the local economy.

The program has already drawn high-profile productions like Netflix’s Pulse, a medical drama set in Miami, and Dexter: Origins, a prequel to the hit TV series Dexter. Both projects employed hundreds of local residents and injected millions into the economy.

In addition to county-wide incentives, local municipalities like Miami Beach and North Miami offer smaller incentives, which can be bundled for even greater benefits. This has helped attract more productions, with several large-scale projects expected to begin filming next year.

Giron emphasized the importance of Miami-Dade’s unique location and strong incentives in competing with other filming hubs like Georgia and California. The growing film industry is creating jobs in various sectors, from carpentry to catering, and international partnerships are being forged to boost the county’s economic impact even further. Miami-Dade’s rising profile in the global film industry is set to continue.
