Air Taxi Flights Targeting Miami’s Skies By 2026
Air taxis could be taking to the skies in Miami by summer 2026, as UrbanLink, a South Florida-based startup, advances plans for an all-electric fleet aimed at transforming transportation. The company is focused on zero-emission, electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles (eVTOLs), which will offer sustainable urban mobility across the region, pending approvals from the FAA, DOT, and TSA.
UrbanLink’s goal is to provide eco-friendly travel with a 500-mile range by 2028, expanding to 1,000 miles by 2030. Founder Ed Wegel emphasized that the company’s fleet, including eVTOLs and seagliders, will support both short and mid-range routes in South Florida and beyond.
In collaboration with companies like Ferrovial Vertiports and Skyway Technologies, UrbanLink is developing a network of vertiports for takeoff and landing. They are also securing funding for infrastructure and engaging with local officials to integrate the service smoothly into the community.
The company has already ordered 10 all-electric ALICE aircraft from Eviation Aircraft, each capable of carrying up to nine passengers on non-stop, 250-mile flights. Additionally, UrbanLink has placed an order for 27 seagliders from REGENT Craft, which combine the speed of planes with the convenience of boats for coastal travel.
UrbanLink is working closely with the FAA to meet safety and regulatory standards. If all goes according to plan, air taxi services will launch in Miami by mid-2026, marking a significant step toward sustainable and accessible urban transportation.
