Conceptual Plans For Waterfront Land Behind Kaseya Center Submitted For Vote

A vote was scheduled for onceptual plans for a 2.7-acre waterfront parcel located behind the Kaseya Center, home of the Miami Heat.

The land, currently owned by Miami-Dade County, has been used by a Miami Heat affiliate during events to stage equipment and transport vehicles—such as trucks, buses, trailers, and other support gear for shows and personnel—according to a county memo.

Under the proposed plans, the western portion of the site would be paved to continue supporting those logistical needs. Meanwhile, the eastern section would be transformed into a public space featuring a playground, waterfront promenade, kayak launch, public art installations, and green space.

The area, known as Dan Paul Plaza, does not yet have secured funding for redevelopment. Potential sources could include a public-private partnership with a Miami Heat affiliate, grants, or other funding mechanisms.

The commission vote was scheduled for July 16.
